Roamin' Ponies Cruise #12

On Saturday, May 2nd 2009, the Roamin' Ponies set out on a 3 state excursion.

Our cruise route Spring Cruise 2009 took us over some awesome winding country roads!

The weather was perfect with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the 70's!

We met up at the Chelsea Royal Diner around 9am for breakfast and spent the time talking about our ponies.

We set out for our first destination, the Bennington Battle Memorial quietly, as the VT State Police barracks is right across the street...

A quick detour at Hogsback Mountain entertained us with an awesome view for miles around!

We even slowed down to let a pack of Harleys pass us.

The roads were clear and there was very little traffic to slow us down as we sailed down Rt 9.

Stopping at the Bennington Battle Memorial turned out to be quite informative and a lot of fun!

Plenty of room in the parking lot!

Inside the base of the Monument is a small museum of sorts with some interesting facts and displays.

The view from the observation deck of the 306 foot tall structure was super and we were able to see Vermont, Massachusetts and New York (our 3 cruise route states!)

Boy, our Mustangs look small down there (even with 3 power zoom).

Back on the road we headed into New York and a quick stop at Dunkin Donuts for coffee.

A bit further along in MA we stopped to view a Bald Eagle nest.

At first we figured, cool it's an Eagle's nest.

But when we could clearly see the nest from 800 feet away, we realized it was about 6 feet across!

Hitting the road again, the traffic thinned out to nothing.

Mile after mile flashed by, trees and mountains slowly coming to life in various shades of green.

The roads got narrower and the turns tighter.

The edge of the road disappeared many times over the sides of cliffs along the mountainous route.

Exhaust roaring, we cut our way through the "S" bends and the only Hairpin turn on the route!
As we climbed the hill a hang-glider pilot few right over our stangs!

What a blast!

Finally, coasting into Greenfield, we stopped at Thai Blue Ginger for dinner.

We had heard good reviews online and we were NOT dissapointed!

The atmosphere was 1st class and the food was excellent!

Each dish was artfully prepared and served with style.

Anyone who missed this cruise really missed a great time!

An absolutely perfect day to own a Mustang.

Don't miss our next cruise on June 6th!

Here is a quick video compilation of some cruise highlights. Spring Cruise Video
