The Roamin' Ponies Mustang Club (RPM Club) Cruise Photos

Roamin' Ponies Cruise #13

On Saturday, July 11th 2009, the Roamin' Ponies set out on a 4 state excursion.

We met up at Staples in Vernon, CT.

5 new RPMC Members joined us for their 1st cruise!

It was great to meet all of you and get a chance to talk about your cars.

Reconnecting with our senior members is always a good time as well!

After a late start, we hit the backroads for Bowen's Garage, in Eastford, CT with 9 Mustangs and our Expedition Support Vehicle!

Getting out of Vernon was a pain with all the traffic lights, but the country roads were beautiful and quickly made up for it.

A few times our noses were reminded that we were in "rural" CT!

Stopping at Bowen's Garage was awesome and as we pulled in, not one, but TWO Shelby GT-500's awaited us!

A set of 2010 Mustangs were also on display (I loved the Kona Blue Mustang).

The sweet 408 Sportsroof Mustang was back, as was the "NEW" 1973 ragtop and deep blue Fox body!

Inside, ice-cold Coke, free Mustang and Hi-Po Ford brochures and photos awaited!

The shop is virtually a museum of FoMoCo history!

Steve and crew are great to talk to!

Grandma Bowen always has great Mustang stories to tell, and yes, she is still driving a Mustang!

The shop has been open since 1930 at the same location and the love of all things Mustang & Ford can be seen in all the rooms.

As photography and conversation wound down, it was time to get back on the road.

After a quick decision that the dirt road to Witches Wood Lake was not something the guys with dark paint or lowered rides were up to, we jumped back on 198 and left CT.

A quick change in route put us on some other nice scenic roads through MA where we could stretch our ponies legs a bit.

As we passed through a few towns in MA, folks would check out our rides and wave.

A particular bunch of kids in an minivan went positively ballistic as they counted out the mustangs in our group!

From 30 feet away I could hear the kid ask Tom, "Hey Mister, you in a club?"

Back on the road, traffic thinned out and the weather was perfect for cruising.

A quick stop by the private lake off Rt 20, generated interest and some conversation with hotel guests!

On the road again, a 2010 Mustang in Grabber Blue joined our ranks!

He stayed with us for some 30 miles or so.

Nice car, hope he joins the club!

The further up into MA we got, the clouds started thickening and the traffic got a bit heavier, so we decided to take I-91 into Brattleboro to make our dinner reservations by 5pm.

We rolled in right on time with 6 Mustangs.

The food at The "99" was good as usual, and even a bit more fancy than I remembered.

After dinner we headed down the road to Staples in Brattleboro for the weekly Saturday Cruise Night.

FIVE RPMC Mustangs rolled into the show!

Mustangs were the most numerous vehicle at the event and a good time was had by all.

Our club received some attention as several people asked for club cards and information.

It started raining just as I pulled into my driveway, hope everyone else made it home before the rain.

I had a great time running with you folks, and I'm looking forward to our next cruise!
